  Safety Case Engineer (Nuclear) - Gloucester

Description We are working with a leading multinational provider of engineering services within the nuclear, oil & gas, renewable energy and other industries. As a result of their involvement in existing nuclear sector and new-build projects, they need to expand their existing team of Safety Case Engineers. While nuclear experience would be preferred, safety case engineers from other hazardous industries will also be considered.

Overview of Role
Safety Case Engineers required to write and/or assess nuclear safety cases produced to support the implementation of nuclear power station plant modifications. Travel may be required throughout the UK

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review nuclear safety cases. Preparation/verification of safety documents. Act as the point of technical contact for clients, including technical officers, project managers and site engineers. Identify requirements for safety case supporting studies, and commission as necessary. Provide input into site/project strategies. Assist in the technical aspects of the production of quotations, bids and tenders from pre-qualification through to formal tender.

Essential Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, physics, mathematics or similar technical discipline

Desirable Qualifications
Achieved or working towards Chartered status. British Energy safety case management qualification to Author/Verifier Category 2 or higher, or equivalent (e.g. Magnox AVB qualification)

Experience Required
•Ideal candidate will have a good general understanding of nuclear power generation.
•Knowledge of nuclear power station safety systems and balance of plant.
•An understanding of nuclear safety principles and their role and application within the nuclear industry.
•Experience in one or more of the following areas: probabilistic and deterministic risk assessment, radiological safety, safety cases, hazards assessment, and ALARP assessment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•A proven record in customer relations.
•Familiarity with British Energy safety documentation and safety case management processes is desirable but not essential.
•Safety case engineers from hazardous industries will also be considered.


Security clearance will be required for this role but can be applied for upon successful interview if not already in place.
   
Salary GBP30000 per annum
